The Industrial and Applied Mathematics Seminar temporarily suspends its regular sessions till 05 June 2007. However, this hiatus will not affect the progress of the 2007 course projects supervised by me.

The Industrial and Applied Mathematics Seminar will resume its work at the Baku State University Faculty of Applied Mathematics on 3rd April 2007. The first afternoon class of the 3rd-year undergraduate students will be permanently rescheduled to allow those interested to participate in the seminar.

Industrial Controller Project Progress Update

Technologic Systems TS 7200 single-board computer (SBC) with PC/104 footprint based on Cirrus EP9302 ARM920T RISC chipset has been preliminarily selected as the platform for the controller prototype. OS will be either Debian or TS Linux.

The following components will be delivered to the Project Team to begin prototyping by the beginning of April:

  • TS-7200-32-8F TS-7200 SBC with 32 MB RAM and 8 MB Flash (OP-ROHS - RoHS compliant, with no lead!!!)
  • KITARM-7200 Development kit with 256 MB Compact Flash, Power Supply, Cables, USB-CF Adapter
  • WIFI-G-USB USB 802.11g wireless network interface
  • TS-5620 PC/104 Peripheral - Battery Backed Real Time Clock
  • TS-ENC720 Metal enclosure with power converter for TS-7200/TS-7250/TS-7260
  • OP-LCD-LED Alphanumeric 2x24 LCD with backlight and cable
  • OP-KPAD Matrix keypad with cable

    The Centre for Industrial Mathematics 2007 Research Plan

    The Centre for Industrial Mathematics at the BSU FAM announces the commencement of the following research projects as part of its 2007 Research Plan:

  • Regularisation and solution techniques for incorrect Cauchy Porblem for Helmholz Equation.
  • Discrete Geodesic Problem with reflected trajectories.
  • Recognition of planar polygonal partitions with fuzzy boundaries.
  • Conversion of CP-Design into a web-enabled application.
  • Deployment of a new IA32 compute cluster at the BSU FAM.
  • Prototype of a Linux-based industrial controller.

    • Further details of the above research projects and funding will be advised shortly.
