Sample output of a 49pts EE

Click on the thumbnail to view sample IR of the 3-dimensional 7x7 explicit extrapolation operator for a tilted transversally isotropic medium, comparing the results of a phaseshift extrapolator with those of the finite difference extrapolator in an animation.

Narrow-aperture one-way explicit wavefield extarpolator for 3D TTI media

Click on the thumbnail to view the spectrum of a computationally efficient narrow-aperture (7x7 pts) 3-dimensional explicit extrapolation operator (and the corresponding phaseshift) for a tilted transversally isotropic medium with Thomsen parameters eps=.45, delta=.2 and tilted symmetry axis defined by angles psi=30deg (rotation in the x,y plane) and phi=60deg (angle from vertical), suitable for max dip of up to 60deg.

Efficient 3D TTI Wave Extrapolator

Click on the thumbnail to view the results of IR migration using one-way "acoustic" wave equation approximation in a 3D tilted transversally isotropic medium with Thomsen parameters eps=.45, delta=.2 and tilted symmetry axis defined by angles psi=40deg (rotation in the x,y plane) and phi=30deg (angle from vertical). The proposed technique is capable of computationally efficient one-way seismic wave extrapolation free form shear wave artifacts, in arbitrary variable TTI media (see the 04 March 09 article below).

Seismic Migration in Arbitrary TTI Media

Click on the thumbnail to view the phase of a proposed 3-dimensional migration operator for a tilted transversally isotropic medium with Thomsen parameters eps=.45, delta=.2 and tilted symmetry axis defined by angles psi=30deg (rotation in the x,y plane) and phi=60deg (angle from vertical). A method has been implemented that is capable of computationally efficient one-way seismic wave extrapolation in arbitrary TTI media free form shear wave artifacts.

IR Modelling In Arbitrary TTI Media

Click on the thumbnail to view the results of an IR modelling in a tilted transversally isotropic 3-dimensional medium with Thomsen parameters eps=.45, delta=.2 and tilted symmetry axis defined by angles psi (rotation in the x,y plane) and phi (angle from vertical). The animation shows planar cross sections of the 3D wave for different combinations of values for psi and phi. The proposed algorithm leads to computationally efficient 3D modelling and migration algorithms that are free form shear wave artifacts.
